About

Alvis George was born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina in 1929.  From an early age he exhibited talent in the arts of painting, drawing and music.  Alvis studied architecture at the newly formed School of Design at North Carolina State University, where he was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and leaders of the international Modern Movement, such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius.

Following service in the United State Air Force during the Korean Conflict, Alvis embarked upon a pioneering fifty-year career in the field of architecture.

His legacy lives on through scores of schools, institutions, and homes, across North Carolina and beyond, each bearing a unique harmonious beauty that mark and Alvis George design.
